The Guardian Weekend Magazine commissioned me to photograph sites around Britain that music fans travel to because they have a connection (even if tenuous) to the bands they love. These mostly very ordinary places were only lifted from their surroundings by the marks visiting pilgrims made.
Perhaps because music, by its nature, lacks a solid form people try and find a physical site, something external, they can relate to that which has had such a powerful internal effect on them.
